Public authorities are being asked to steer the shift to electric mobility — shaping infrastructure, energy integration and clean-air goals — often faster than the policy and the tools can keep up.
Charging gets rolled out street by street, but the decisions behind it are strategic: where the grid can cope, how procurement is framed, which rules actually change behaviour, and who risks being left behind. Good early strategy turns public charging into a lasting public asset; weak strategy locks in cost and inequity for years.
Most of my work today is here, with the public sector. I provide strategic and policy advice to governments, municipalities, regions and NGOs — translating EU regulation, grid realities and how people actually behave into policy that holds up and roll-out that happens. The approach is user-centred, and it deliberately includes the people who do not yet drive an EV.
